South Korean automaker Hyundai has announced that it will introduce the world’s first smart fingerprint technology in its cars and SUVs. The smart fingerprint technology will make its debut with the 2019 Santa Fe SUV for the global markets.
Using the smart fingerprint technology, the driver will be able to unlock and also start the car. The fingerprint scanner is extremely popular among the budget Android phones and it will be no surprise if the same technology is implemented in compact cars such as the next-gen i20.
The smart fingerprint technology will consist of a fingerprint scanner on the door handle and the driver will be able to unlock the door. The engine start/stop button will also have a fingerprint scanner to start the car. The fingerprint scanner will be connected to the fingerprint controller to unlock or start the car.
The fingerprint scanner can also be used to personalise the settings such as seat position, steering position, climate control, ambient lighting and much more. Initially, Hyundai will introduce this technology in select global markets and gradually it will be expanded to other markets.
