MG Motor launched the Hector SUV in the Indian market in June 2019 and the SUV had garnered over 10,000 bookings on June 27, 2019. Now, MG Motor India has announced that Hector has received over 21,000 bookings and the bookings will be closed on July 19, 2019. Currently, the production capacity of Halol plant is 2,000 units per month and at the moment the Hector is sold out for 2019.
MG Motor India has stated that the company plans to increase the production to 3,000 units per month by October 2019. MG Motor will soon announce the date of re-opening of bookings. The company has also revealed that the petrol variants account for 50 percent of the total bookings. The top two trims: Smart and Sharp are in demand as compared to other variants.
Currently, the waiting period for Hector stands up to seven months. The MG Hector is available with two engine options: 2-litre diesel and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the petrol engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT gearbox. The petrol engine is also offered with a mild-hybrid system.
The MG Hector is priced in the range of ₹12.18 lakh to ₹16.88 lakh ex-showroom. The MG Hector comes loaded to the brim with all the bells and whistles. The party trick of Hector is the vertically-mounted 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system which eliminates the clutter of buttons. Overall, the MG Hector is off to a good start and the numbers will go up when the bookings are re-opened.
