The Indian automobile industry is going through a tough period. The industry is suffering from a slump in sales across the segment and there are no signs of improvement. The two-wheeler segment is also facing the same problem and most of the manufacturers posted negative growth.
Hero MotoCorp and Honda continue to fight for the top spot of the top 10 selling two-wheelers list. In July 2019, the Honda Activa has emerged as the best-selling two-wheeler as it overtook the Hero Splendor. Below is the detailed list of the top 10 selling two-wheelers in July 2019.

10. TVS XL100
The TVS XL100 has been a consistent performer for TVS Motor Company. But the moped has suffered a slump in sales in the past few months and it has slipped to the tenth position. In July 2019, TVS managed to retail 51,192 units of the XL100 as compared to the 67,106 units in the same month in 2018. The TVS XL100 posted a negative growth of -23.71 percent.
9. Suzuki Access
The Suzuki Access occupies the ninth position despite posting a positive growth of 40.72 percent. The sales figures for the Suzuki Access stood at 51,498 units in July 2019 as compared to 36,596 units in July 2018. The Suzuki Access is the third best-selling scooter in the Indian market.
8. Bajaj Platina
Bajaj Auto’s entry-level offering, Platina has been selling in good numbers. In July 2019, Bajaj Auto sold 52,489 units of Platina as opposed to 40,074 units in July 2018. The commuter motorcycle posted a growth of 30.98 percent. Bajaj has somehow managed to keep the ship steady when the storm of low sales has hit the industry.
7. TVS Jupiter
The TVS Jupiter has become the second best-selling scooter in the country and is in the seventh position in the top-selling two-wheelers list. TVS sold 57,731 units of the scooter in July 2019 as compared to 66,632 unis in July 2018. Overall, the TVS Jupiter posted a negative growth of -13.36 percent.
6. Bajaj Pulsar
The Bajaj Pulsar series has seen a steady growth in the past few months. In July 2019, the Bajaj Pulsar series recorded a sales figure of 62,469 units as compared to 63,388 in July 2018. The sales might improve as Bajaj has recently introduced the new Pulsar 125 which will make the Pulsar brand more accessible to the buyers.
5. Hero Glamour
Hero Glamour is a premium commuter motorcycle from the stable of Hero MotoCorp. In July 2019, Hero managed to retail 71,160 units of the Glamour as compared to 74,553 units in July 2018. The sales of the Hero Glamour is down by -4.55 percent, but it still retails in decent numbers.
4. Honda CB Shine
The Honda CB Shine is one of the most popular premium commuter motorcycles in the Indian market. Honda sold 94,559 units of the motorcycle in July 2019 as opposed to 86,160 in the same month in 2018. This translates to a sales growth of 9.75 percent and it is a commendable achievement amidst the slowdown in sales.
3. Hero HF Deluxe
The Hero HF Deluxe has been performing well for the Indian two-wheeler maker and it posted solid numbers in July 2019. Hero MotoCorp sold 1,69,632 units of the HF Deluxe in July 2019 as compared to 1,83,694 units in July 2018. Yes, there is a drop in sales, but it is expected as the entire industry is facing the same problem.
2. Hero Splendor
India’s best-selling motorcycle, the Hero Splendor slipped to the second position with a sales figure of 1,78,907 in July 2019. The Hero Splendor suffered the most as it posted a negative growth of -31.42 percent. In July 2018, the sales of Hero Splendor stood at 2,60,865. Now, with the festive season fast approaching, Hero will expect the sales to improve in the coming months.
1. Honda Activa
Honda Activa — India’s best-selling scooter has also emerged as the best-selling two-wheeler in July 2019. Honda sold 2,43,604 units of Activa in July 2019 as compared to the 2,86,380 units in July 2018. The Honda Activa also posted a negative growth of -14.94 percent. Honda is also working on the new BS-VI compliant Activa which is expected to be launched during the festive season.
