Toyota is all set to launch an all-new luxury MPV in the Indian market. Yes, Autocar India reports that Toyota will launch the Vellfire luxury MPV in the Indian market in October 2019. The Toyota Vellfire will come to India as a CBU unit. Toyota is utilising the new rule of importing vehicles to India.
As per new rules, an automaker can import up to 2,500 vehicles per year and those vehicles need not be homologated in India. Another report from TeamBHP states that the Toyota Vellfire MPV has been showcased in India at a private event and the leaked brochure also reveales the technical details of the luxury MPV.
The Toyota Vellfire is the sportier version of the Alphard MPV which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Vellfire features split LED headlamps and LED DRLs, revamped front bumper and grille and triangular fog lamp housing. Apart from that the overall design of the Vellfire is identical to the Alphard MPV.
The Toyota Vellfire Executive Lounge package comes with features such as two large captain seats in the second row, three-zone automatic climate control, two sunroofs, powered sliding doors and tailgate, mood lighting, seven airbags and individual tray tables. The global-spec Vellfire also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.2-inch screen for the rear passengers.
The Toyota Vellfire will draw power from a 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a hybrid system. The combined power output stands at 143bhp and the power is delivered to all four wheels through a CVT gearbox. Expect the Toyota Vellfire to be pried around ₹80 lakh and it will rival the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
