Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated Eeco in the Indian market. The Eeco gets a structural update to comply with the new crash test norms. The new crash test norms were implemented from October 1, 2019. With the latest update, the prices for the Maruti Suzuki Eeco start at ₹3.61 lakh for the 5-seater variant and goes all the way up to ₹6.61 lakh for the Eeco Care variant. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
Previously, Maruti Suzuki had updated the safety features of the Eeco to comply with the new safety regulations. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes with standard safety features such as driver airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminder and high-speed warning system.
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco draws power from the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, BS-IV petrol engine that produces 72bhp and 101Nm of torque. When running on CNG, the power output drops to 62bhp and 85Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Maruti Suzuki will upgrade the engine to meet the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.
Despite the new safety and crash test norms coming into effect, Maruti Suzuki has decided to retain the Eeco in its product portfolio. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco has been selling in good numbers since the Omni was discontinued and Maruti Suzuki does not want to discontinue the Eeco.
